Labyrinth

The Unity of Tucson labyrinth was constructed in 2001 in order to share with our congregation and community the insights and serenity which can result from a walking meditation.

Located just north of the Unity of Tucson parking area, and with a spectacular view of the Santa Catalina Mountains, you breathe in the beauty of the natural desert as you take your labyrinth journey.

Although its origins are mysterious and unknown, the labyrinth has been traced back, in various forms that it has taken, over the past several thousand years. Labyrinths can be found worldwide and crossing cultural and societal bounds, including in Greece, France, Egypt, Indonesia, Peru, Iceland, and many other places.

A labyrinth is not to be confused with a maze. A maze offers many different paths, and many that will lead to “dead ends.” The labyrinth has only one path leading to the center, and then back. The walking meditation practice allows for the traveller to enjoy distinct conscious shifts along the way. The labyrinth symbolizes the journey of regeneration and enlightenment.

The Unity of Tucson labyrinth is always open to the public.
